Six Sanwo-Olu Aides Resign for 2027 Elections

Six senior aides of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and a commissioner are preparing to resign from their positions to contest in the 2027 general elections. The aides include Kayode Robert, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Sola Giwa, Special Adviser on Transport; Barakat Odunuga, Special Adviser on Housing; Babajide Obanikoro, Special Adviser on Parastatal Monitoring; Lekan Balogun, Special Adviser on Economic Planning and Budget; and Damilola Ayind Marshal, Senior Special Assistant on Tourism.

Their intent to run for various seats, including the House of Representatives and the Lagos State House of Assembly, has already been made public, with campaign activities underway. This move comes amid a directive from President Bola Tinubu requiring political appointees to step down to ensure compliance with the Electoral Act ahead of the elections, with resignations expected by March 31, 2026.
