SMEDAN Launches Skills Program for MSMEs in Kano

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has launched a capacity-building program aimed at enhancing the capabilities of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Kano State. This initiative is part of efforts to improve product competitiveness and sustainability among local businesses.

The program, inaugurated by Bashir Jamfalam, the Kano State Manager of SMEDAN, is designed to provide participating enterprises with practical skills in modern product technology and business management. It aims to enhance efficiency and product quality, thereby enabling local businesses to access broader domestic and international markets.

Moshood Lawal Odii, head of corporate affairs at SMEDAN, emphasized the importance of enterprise clusters as critical drivers for MSME development, encouraging collaboration among businesses to reduce production costs. Additionally, the agency plans to promote environmentally sustainable industrial development by identifying viable solar power energy solutions.

This initiative aligns with global industrial development standards and aims to create economic opportunities, reduce poverty, and create jobs, particularly for women and young people.
