SMEDAN Launches MSME Training Program in Kano State

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has commenced a comprehensive capacity-building program for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) clusters in Kano State. The program was launched by the Director General of SMEDAN, Charl Odii, and aims to strengthen the competitiveness of local businesses for long-term sustainability.
Bashir Jamfalam, the Kano State Manager of SMEDAN, noted that the program targets training in design and equipping cluster enterprises with technical support, modern product technology, and advanced business management skills. Moshood Lawal, the Director General, emphasized that enterprise clusters are vital for accelerating MSME growth and reducing product costs, which is crucial for positioning Nigerian products competitively in the global market, particularly within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The program also includes initiatives for solar and clean energy interventions to significantly reduce overhead costs and foster environmentally friendly business practices. SMEDAN's efforts aim to promote inclusive economic growth, alleviate poverty, and create meaningful employment opportunities for women and youth.
