Nkem Owoh: Social Media Fame Can't Replace Real Talent

Nkem Owoh, a veteran Nollywood actor popularly known as Osuofia, expressed his views on the current trend of casting actors based on social media fame rather than actual talent. In a recent episode of the Selah Medit podcast, Owoh stated, "I don’t think social media fame can replace real talent," emphasizing that true talent remains irreplaceable.

His comments come amid a broader discussion among Nigerian actors, including Shine Rosman, Bolaji Ogunmola, and Oserem Inegebenebor, who have accused Nollywood filmmakers of favoring actors with attractive physical appearances and social media popularity over genuine talent. Despite these allegations, Owoh noted that Nollywood filmmakers have yet to address these concerns publicly.
