Sokoto Governor Honors Murtala Mohammed's Legacy

Dr. Ahmad Aliyu, the Governor of Sokoto State, eulogized the late General Murtala Mohammed, describing him as a symbol of patriotism, courage, and selfless service.

This statement followed the receipt of the General Murtala Mohammed Meritorious Security Award during the Golden Symposium held at Bayero University in Kano, organized by the Kano Patriot Front to honor the late leader who was assassinated 50 years ago during a failed coup attempt. Governor Aliyu expressed gratitude for the prestigious award, dedicating it to the people of Sokoto State and highlighting the ongoing efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region.

He characterized General Mohammed as a bold visionary leader who demonstrated discipline and commitment to national unity during his brief tenure. Aliyu called on current leaders and younger generations to emulate Mohammed's virtues of selflessness and transparency, emphasizing that Nigeria's development relies on leaders prioritizing national interests over personal gains.
