Solar Energy: Key to Closing Nigeria's Energy Gap

Dr. Michael Terungwa, the founder of the Global Initiative for Food Security and Ecosystem Preservation (GIFSEP), stated that solar energy is the most viable option to bridge Nigeria's energy gap, which affects 90 million people without electricity.

In an interview with Trust TV, he emphasized the vast potential of solar energy, describing it as clean, affordable, and easily deployable in remote areas. Terungwa pointed out that Nigeria has abundant solar radiation, which can provide reliable energy to the population.

He also mentioned the instability of petrol prices, which forces many households to seek alternative energy sources. Despite the high costs associated with importing solar panels from Europe, he noted that the market in Africa is growing, and there is a need for quality assurance in solar accessories to ensure effective implementation.

Terungwa criticized the perception that Nigerian solar initiatives are ineffective due to the low quality of imported solar accessories.
