JTF North-West Foils Terror Attack, Arrests Suspect in Kaduna

Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully thwarted a suspected terrorist attack in Kaduna State, recovering an AK-47 rifle and arresting a suspect during operations conducted between September 23 and 24, 2026. Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of the JTF North-West, reported that troops from Sector 1 acted on credible intelligence regarding terrorist movements in the bushes around Rijana, Kachia Local Government Area.

The troops laid an ambush and engaged the terrorists, leading to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a magazine with 13 rounds of ammunition, a magazine carrier, and a military jungle hat. In a separate operation on the same day in Awom village, also in Kachia LGA, troops arrested a suspect named Jacob, who was found with a fabricated pistol and seven rounds of ammunition.

Jacob is currently in military custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. The Theatre Command commended the troops for their professionalism and prompt response.
