Governor Soludo Enforces Closure of Onitsha Main Market Amid Resistance

Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo followed through on his threat to close Onitsha Main Market after traders violated a sit-at-home order.

Despite the governor's directive to keep the market closed until the following Monday, some traders insisted on resuming trade on Tuesday, defying the order. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) supported the traders' stance against the closure.

The situation escalated as security forces, including armored personnel carriers, were deployed to enforce the closure, leading to a tense standoff with traders outside the market. The traders expressed frustration and resistance, highlighting the ongoing tensions between the state government and the local business community.
