Soludo Accuses Obi of Unpaid Salaries Amid Flood Crisis

The Anambra State Government, led by Governor Charles Soludo, released a 2024 out-of-court settlement document on September 23, 2026, as evidence in its ongoing dispute with former governor Peter Obi regarding alleged unpaid salaries and financial obligations from Obi's administration. The document, titled “Terms of Settlement,” was signed on February 6, 2024, between the Anambra State Government and the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE).

It pertains to outstanding obligations involving the defunct Anambra State Water Corporation and the Anambra State Environmental Protection Agency (ANSEPA). The Soludo administration accused Obi of falsely claiming he left office without outstanding financial obligations, asserting that the Water Corporation arrears were evidence of unpaid salaries that were settled under Soludo's leadership.

Obi has countered that he inherited significant financial obligations and addressed them during his tenure, claiming to have liquidated over N35 billion in historical gratuities and arrears.
