Soludo's Government Acknowledges Obi's Governance Success

Law Mefor, the Anambra Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, stated that Governor Charles Soludo's administration does not intend to indict former governor Peter Obi. In an interview with Rudolf Okonkwo on 90MinutesAfrica, Mefor addressed the controversy surrounding debt claims from Obi's administration.

He emphasized that there is no rift between Soludo and Obi, as both are defending their political interests. Mefor acknowledged Obi's performance as governor but disputed his claims of leaving no financial liabilities for subsequent administrations.

He specifically challenged Obi's assertion of having left ₦12.13 billion in an ecological fund account, stating that the government found no evidence of this balance upon requesting the account statement from the bank. Mefor urged Obi to publish the bank statement if he believes the government's claims are inaccurate.

He also contested Obi's claims regarding loan liabilities, indicating that the scrutiny of Obi's financial records is not aimed at undermining his achievements or presidential ambitions.
