Nigerian Activist Accuses Prison Officials of Selling Cell Spaces to Wealthy Inmates

Journalist and activist Jalingo alleges that officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service are involved in corrupt practices by selling cell spaces to wealthy inmates. This revelation came after a two-day investigation by Jalingo, who had previously been detained at the Afokang Federal Correctional Center in Calabar.

Jalingo's experience has inspired ongoing advocacy for prison reform and justice for wrongfully convicted inmates. The activist expressed gratitude to Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu for granting amnesty to 54 inmates at the Afokang facility.
