South-West NASS Caucus Celebrates Pa Reuben Fasoranti at 100

The South-West NASS Caucus celebrated Pa Reuben Fasoranti on his 100th birthday, acknowledging him as a defender of Yoruba interests and a visionary whose aspirations for Nigeria are gradually being realized. The caucus, comprising federal lawmakers from the South-West, highlighted Fasoranti's long-standing expectation for a recalibrated federal governance structure, which is currently being addressed through legislative reforms.

Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the caucus chairman, paid tribute to Fasoranti, describing him as the last surviving disciple of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who embodied humility and fought valiantly for democracy during Nigeria's military dictatorship. Bamidele noted that Fasoranti's efforts culminated in the restoration of democratic rule on May 29, 1999.

He expressed hope for greater peace and prosperity in Nigeria and emphasized Fasoranti's ongoing guidance in championing equitable governance. The caucus is working on constitutional amendments, including the introduction of state police and the creation of regional development commissions to address infrastructure deficits.
