Tinubu Honors Reuben Fasoranti on 100th Birthday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu paid tribute to elder statesman and pro-democracy activist Reuben Fasoranti on the occasion of his 100th birthday. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Strategic Communication, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Fasoranti as a symbol of integrity, honesty, discipline, and selfless service to the nation.

The statement noted that Fasoranti has lived an exemplary life devoted to the development of Nigeria, highlighting his contributions to education and the political landscape, particularly during Nigeria's democratic struggle. Tinubu commended Fasoranti's academic achievements, including his education at the University of Ibadan, University of Hull, and Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.

The statement also recognized Fasoranti's role in establishing schools in Ondo State, such as Omoler Nursery and Primary School, Akure High School, and St. Francis Academy.

Tinubu recalled Fasoranti's involvement with the defunct Action Group and the Unity Party of Nigeria, as well as his service on the Finance Commission of the old Ondo State from 1979 to 1983 under late Governor Adekunle Ajasin. The statement reflected on the challenges Fasoranti faced, including an assassination attempt during the military era and the tragic loss of his daughter, Funk Olakunrin, in 2019.

Tinubu expressed appreciation for Fasoranti's prayers and support throughout his political journey, especially during his presidential campaign, wishing him continued good health and strength.
