Sowore Faces Legal Setback with N1.5 Million Fine

Omoyele Sowore, a politician and activist, encountered major legal challenges beginning March 17, 2026, when the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Moham Umar, addressed a case brought against him by the Department of State Services (DSS). Sowore had previously made a social media post labeling President Bola Tinubu as a criminal, which led to his court battle with the DSS.

On April 2, 2026, Sowore filed a lawsuit against the DSS and Meta Corp, claiming a breach of his fundamental human rights after Meta removed his post at the request of the DSS. However, the court ruled against Sowore, imposing a fine of N1.5 million for what it deemed a frivolous suit.
