Omoyele Sowore Sues Nigerian Police Officials for ₦500 Million Over Rights Violation

Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has filed a ₦500 million lawsuit against Nigeria's Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh. Sowore accuses them of violating his fundamental rights and seeks enforcement of his rights to dignity, liberty, and freedom of movement.

The lawsuit, filed in the Federal High Court in Lagos, involves a team of human rights lawyers. Sowore claims that the police unlawfully declared him a wanted person without prior notice or charges.

He emphasizes his commitment to upholding the law and freedom of expression.
