Nigerian Police Clarify Sowore's Prison Transfer Amid Denial of Re-Arrest

The Nigerian Police Force has refuted media reports claiming the re-arrest of activist Omoyele Sowore. Instead, they explained that Sowore was taken to prison to fulfill bail conditions after being arrested on fresh charges.

Sowore was initially arrested for allegedly flouting a court order barring his group from protesting in Abuja. He was kept in custody until Friday morning before being taken to Kuje Prison.

The police emphasized that the correct procedure is for a person arrested on fresh charges to be taken to court first, not directly to prison.
