Sowore pledges N500,000 wage, round-the-clock power for 2027 bid

African Action Congress candidate Omoyele Sowore outlined sweeping economic promises including a N500,000 monthly minimum wage and 24-hour electricity supply…

Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress presidential candidate, has unveiled a campaign platform centred on substantial wage increases and infrastructure overhaul ahead of the 2027 general election. In a recent interview with Independent newspaper, the activist and publisher committed to establishing a N500,000 monthly living wage for Nigerian workers and guaranteeing uninterrupted electricity nationwide if his party wins the presidency.

Beyond the wage and power pledges, Sowore's agenda encompasses education reform, housing development, and tenancy law overhaul. His platform calls for eliminating tuition costs and making education freely available across all levels, constructing one million mixed-income public residential units, and restructuring rental practices to ease the financial strain of advance rent deposits on tenants.

He framed these commitments as part of what he termed a programme rooted in 'revolutionary justice and equal rights.' Sowore's messaging directly addresses persistent citizen complaints about Nigeria's resource management. He argued that despite the nation's substantial wealth, ordinary Nigerians have not experienced corresponding improvements in living standards.

The AAC candidate positioned his party's proposals as a corrective response to this gap between national resources and citizen welfare. The promises represent a departure from current minimum wage levels in Nigeria, where the recently implemented national minimum wage stands significantly lower.

Sowore's 2027 platform places him among opposition candidates offering ambitious economic restructuring proposals as the next election cycle approaches. The AAC has not yet detailed specific funding mechanisms or implementation timelines for these pledges.
