Sowore Promises Free Education If Elected in 2027

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has renewed his pledge to implement free and compulsory education from primary school through university if he is elected president in 2027. This commitment was reiterated in a social media post on Monday, coinciding with the resumption of primary and secondary schools across Nigeria for the new academic session.

Sowore emphasized that children should not be denied access to education due to their parents' financial situations, stating, “Under our government, education will be FREE, QUALITATIVE, ACCESSIBLE AND COMPULSORY.” He plans to support this initiative with school feeding programs, free textbooks, medical care, improved infrastructure, and greater access to modern technology. Additionally, Sowore aims to enhance teachers' welfare through regular training, better professional recognition, and improved remuneration.

He also stressed the importance of safety for pupils, students, teachers, and school facilities, asserting that education is a right and not a privilege.
