Sowore Sues IGP for ₦1.2 Billion Over Illegal Arrest

Human rights activist Sowore has filed a lawsuit against the Inspector General of Police and others in the Federal High Court Abuja, seeking ₦1.2 billion in damages for his alleged illegal arrest and detention. Sowore's legal team, led by Tope Temokun, argues that the actions of the police amount to a blatant violation of his constitutional rights, including freedom of movement.

The lawsuit demands both compensatory and punitive damages, as well as a public apology and disciplinary action against the responsible parties.
