Stakeholders Advocate for Women's Inclusion in Security

At the ITeach Africa Initiative Summit 2026 held on Friday in Abuja, stakeholders advocated for greater inclusion of women in leadership, governance, and security. The summit, organized by the ITeach Africa Initiative and Empower Her for Governance Initiative, focused on the theme “Advancing Women’s Leadership and Inclusive Governance and Security.” Convener Alaibe-Elezieanya Ebimoboere expressed concern over national security challenges such as kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism, which disproportionately affect vulnerable women.

She stressed the importance of women's involvement in decision-making related to national security. General Christopher Musa (retd), the Minister of Defence, represented by Lt.-Col. Nneka Olimma, emphasized the need for women to play a crucial role in addressing security issues.

Esther Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, represented by Nkiruka Jones-Nebo, highlighted that women's participation in governance is essential for growth and creating opportunities for mentorship and leadership training.
