Abuja Summit Advocates for Women's Leadership in Governance

The Inclusion and National Security Summit took place on August 21 in Abuja, Nigeria, with the theme “Advancing Women’s Leadership for Inclusive Governance and Security.” Convened by the non-governmental organization I Teach Africa, the summit lasted over six hours and involved significant planning. It brought together ministers, lawmakers, top security agents, judiciary officers, traditional and religious leaders, development partners, civil society groups, women bodies, persons with disabilities, the media, and diplomatic personnel.

The chief convener, Mrs. Ebimoboere Elezieanya, emphasized the importance of women's meaningful participation in governance, peace-building, public policy, and national security. The summit aimed to ensure that women are recognized not just as beneficiaries of development but as active participants and decision-makers.

The discussions and resolutions made at the summit are expected to be implemented rather than ignored, reflecting a collective commitment to advancing women's roles in creating a peaceful and inclusive Nigeria.
