Tinubu Commits to State Police Amid Ramadan Gathering

During an interfaith gathering in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu reiterated his administration's commitment to establishing state police as a measure to combat insecurity in Nigeria. He assured that this initiative would not be postponed, emphasizing the need for immediate action.

The event marked the first iftar of the 2026 Ramadan season, where Tinubu expressed optimism about Nigeria's economic trajectory, stating that the country is "out of the woods" regarding economic uncertainties. He called for unity among political leaders, particularly urging Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to exercise restraint amid political tensions.

Tinubu also commended Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum for his Ramadan outreach program, which aimed to foster goodwill between Muslims and Christians. He highlighted the significance of the Ramadan coinciding with the Christian Lenten season, urging leaders to focus on inclusivity and development opportunities for grassroots communities.

The gathering was attended by several governors and key political figures, including Hope Uzodimma, Kashim Shettima, and Femi Gbajabiamila.
