Stepmother Arrested for Allegedly Killing Enugu Girl

Ogechi John has been taken into police custody for the alleged murder of her nine-year-old stepdaughter, Amanda John, in Enugu State. The arrest was announced by the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, via a statement on his WhatsApp media platform.

The incident occurred around 3 PM on Sunday in Nchatancha Emen, Enugu East Local Government Area, where Amanda was reportedly subjected to repeated maltreatment. The Nigeria Police Force is investigating the case, which has drawn attention from the Enugu State Government, particularly from the Commissioner for Children and Gender Affairs, Ngozi Enih.

Governor Mbah emphasized the administration's zero tolerance for child abuse and homicide, pledging that the suspect would face the full weight of the law. The government has committed to closely monitoring the legal process to ensure justice is served without delay.
