ICPC Urges Nigerians to Reject Unexplained Wealth

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has called on Nigerians to cease the glamorization of sudden and unexplained wealth, advocating for a culture that questions its origins. This statement was made by Mr Kupolati Kayode, representing ICPC Chairman Dr Musa Aliyu, during the Verbatim Annual Ethics and Integrity Awards/Dinner in Abuja.
The event recognized 100 ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) for their adherence to ethics and integrity standards. Dr Musa Aliyu stressed that integrity is vital for national development and public trust, warning that corruption erodes confidence in institutions.
He highlighted the ICPC’s commitment to public education and ethical promotion beyond mere prosecution. Prof Iyorwuese Hagher, the event's chairman, emphasized the need to stop honoring individuals with questionable wealth and called for integrity to be instilled in various societal sectors.
Mr Tobs Agbaegbu, publisher of Verbatim News Magazine, noted that the awardees were selected based on the ICPC’s 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard.
