Student Takes Over as Lagos Governor in Spell Bee Event

On a designated day, Miss Etiyemonu Esther, a student from Lagos State Senior Model College, Igbokuta, symbolically assumed the role of 'Lagos governor' following her victory in the 21st Lagos Spell Bee competition held in December 2025. The event took place at Lagos House, Marina, where former Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu formally handed over the symbolic seat to her.

In a video that circulated, Sanwo-Olu commended Esther's outstanding qualities, describing her as focused, confident, and hardworking, and noted that she embodies the potential of Lagos youth. He emphasized that her achievement represents a bright future for the state.

Esther was accompanied by Deputy Governor Miss Awoyemi Dorca and Secretary to the State Government Miss Salami Jumai Olaid, along with her parents. Sanwo-Olu also acknowledged the initiatives of Oluremi Tinubu, describing the governor's program as a legacy that continues to inspire and groom young leaders across the state.
