Kaspersky Reports Surge in Cyber Attacks in Sub-Saharan Africa

Cybersecurity company Kaspersky reported a significant increase in web and on-device attacks in Sub-Saharan Africa during the first half of 2025. The region experienced 42.4 million web attacks and 95.6 million on-device attacks, marking a substantial rise compared to the previous year.

The data revealed a doubling in spyware attacks and notable increases in other forms of cyber threats, including password stealers and backdoor infections. Nigeria was particularly targeted, with millions of incidents blocked, highlighting the growing sophistication of cyber threats in the country.

Kaspersky emphasized the need for enhanced security measures to protect users from malware, ransomware, and other cyber risks.
