Lagos Tax Growth Attributed to Tinubu's Vision and Reforms

Dr. Ayodele Subair, the Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, credited the growth in Lagos State's tax revenue to the foresight of President Bola Tinubu during his governorship.

Speaking at the 159th meeting of the Joint Revenue Board, Subair noted that Tinubu's decision to grant operational autonomy to the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service a year ago laid the foundation for its success, making it a model for other states in Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of tax compliance and the visible benefits of tax payments, which correlate with infrastructure development.

Subair commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his robust infrastructure development initiatives, including significant investments in transportation, urban renewal, education, and health. The meeting, which took place from April 20 to April 23, included various stakeholders from across the country, focusing on strengthening tax systems and improving compliance to enhance revenue generation nationwide.
