Suleja Residents Oppose Military Control of Education Facility

The Suleja Development Association (SUDA) has rejected the Niger State Government's reported plans to hand over the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) Field Base in Suleja to the military. SUDA's Public Relations Officer, Mr Umar Shuaibu, stated that the community insists the facility should remain a permanent center for higher education, specifically for the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) campus, which offers diploma and postgraduate programs.
Shuaibu highlighted that the community had previously opposed a proposal to convert the facility into a market and had sought dialogue with the government regarding the property's future, but received no response. He emphasized the historical significance of the field base, originally ancestral farmland, and the community's sacrifices for the development of the Federal Capital.
Shuaibu noted that Suleja lacks a full-fledged public higher institution, despite being a major economic center in Niger State, and expressed the community's commitment to resist any military takeover.
