Amas Obasogie Suspended for Alleged Match-Fixing

Amas Obasogie, a 26-year-old goalkeeper for the Tanzanian Premier League side Singida Black Star, has been suspended for three months following allegations of match-fixing. The club announced this decision in a statement released on February 27, 2025, noting that Obasogie would be barred from football-related activities during the investigation.

This suspension comes as part of a broader disciplinary measure, which also affected his teammate Khalid Aucho, who received a three-month suspension for misconduct related to absence from training. Obasogie joined Singida Black Star in 2025 after departing from Ethiopian club Fasil Kenema, seeking new challenges in Tanzania's top flight.

He has built a reputation for his performances with Bendel Insurance FC and has been recognized at the national level, although he has primarily served as the third-choice goalkeeper for the Super Eagles. He made his senior international debut in November 2025 as a substitute in a friendly against Egypt, contributing to Nigeria's squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Super Eagles finished third.
