Isaac James Emotional After Super Eagles Call-Up

Nigerian left-back Isaac James described receiving his first call-up to the Super Eagles as one of the most emotional moments of his life, stating he broke down in tears upon learning of his selection for Nigeria's opening fixtures in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. Head coach Éric Chelle included the 22-year-old Alverca defender in the squad to host Madagascar in Uyo and to face Guinea-Bissau in Bissau.

In a video shared, James expressed that the invitation was a genuine shock, despite his strong performance at the start of the season with Alverca, where he has played all seven league matches, contributing two assists. The significance of the moment resonated with him, especially considering the caliber of players he would join in the national squad.

James is one of several new players introduced by Chelle as the Super Eagles begin their qualification campaign and is expected to support Bruno Onyemaechi at left-back.
