Nigerian Striker Anthony Ujah Retires at 34 After Successful Stints in Europe

Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah, aged 34, has retired from professional football after a successful career in Europe. Ujah began his journey with local club FC Abuja in 2005 before moving to NPFL's Warri Wolves and then to Norwegian club Lillestrom, where he scored 27 goals in 37 league matches.

He also played in Germany, China, and Bulgaria, becoming a cult hero in Germany with 136 Bundesliga appearances and 30 goals for clubs like Mainz, Cologne, Werder Bremen, and Union Berlin. Ujah, the third-highest Nigerian scorer in the German topflight, earned seven caps for the Nigerian national team before a career-ending patellar tendon tear sustained in a Europa League qualifier.
