Super Eagles Secure Win, Boost AFCON 2027 Qualification Odds

Nigeria's Super Eagles commenced their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory against Madagascar in Uyo. The match saw the Barea take an early lead, but Nigeria responded with goals from debutants George Ilenikhena, who equalized in the first half, and Moses Usor, who secured the win in the second half.

This victory positions Nigeria in second place in Group B, trailing Guinea-Bissau, who won their opening match against Tanzania 2-0. Following this win, Nigeria's probability of qualifying for the 2027 Cup of Nations has risen to 94.8%, ranking them third among all competing nations, behind Morocco and Senegal.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has indicated that only one of Nigeria, Madagascar, and Guinea-Bissau can qualify from Group L, with Tanzania already assured a spot in the tournament as co-hosts.
