Bandits Abduct Traditional Ruler and Son in Kwara State, Sparking Panic

Suspected bandits abducted Oba Simeon Olaonipekun, a traditional ruler, and his son, who is currently serving in the NYSC, in Kwara State. The incident occurred on December 31, 2025, in Ifelodun Local Government Area.

The bandits invaded the royal palace in Ilorin, causing panic and shooting sporadically. Oba Simeon's wife, Felicia Olaonipekun, was injured in the attack.

The son was also injured and is currently undergoing NYSC service. The community's vigilante group was overpowered by the gunmen, who spoke good English and demanded to see the traditional ruler.
