Bandits Abduct Monarch and Son in Kwara, Heightening Insecurity

Bandits stormed a community in Kwara state on New Year's Eve, abducting Oba S.Y. Olaonipekun and his son, Olaolu Olaonipekun, who is a NYSC member.

The queen consort, Felicia Olaonipekun, was shot but not taken. This incident has increased insecurity in the Kwara South region.

In a separate incident, Kamilu Salami was released after spending 25 days in captivity, with a ransom reportedly paid. The abductors demanded a total of N25 million for the monarch's release.
