Curfew Enforced in Taraba's Mbamga After Deadly Clashes

A 24-hour curfew has been imposed on the Mbamga community in the Sardauna local government area of Taraba State due to violent attacks that left at least five people dead, including security personnel. The unrest began after a fatal altercation between a cattle herder and a farmer in the Mbamga area, leading to widespread violence, destruction of homes, and the killing of livestock.

Ibrahim Abdu, a resident, reported that the security situation worsened between Tuesday and Wednesday, with killings spreading to nearby neighborhoods. He expressed concern over the inaction of the military’s quick response unit stationed in Gembu.

Mohammed Umar, the chairman of the council area, announced the curfew on Wednesday through an official press statement issued by his media aide, Marvellous Heli. The curfew aims to restore calm, protect lives and property, and prevent further violence.

Umar assured residents that security operatives have been deployed to maintain law and order in the affected communities.
