Taraba gov goes spiritual over deputy’s illness

Taraba State Governor, Kefas, addressed concerns about the absence of an active deputy governor for several months due to his deputy's illness. He emphasized the importance of faith, morality, and conscience in governance, urging residents to pray for his deputy's recovery.

Kefas, drawing on his military background, called for unity and compassion, quoting Christian and Islamic scriptures. However, human rights lawyer Barrister Bilyaminu Maihanci cautioned that while compassion is crucial, governance must still adhere to the law.

He warned that leaving the state without a functioning deputy governor could undermine constitutional democracy and called on the Governor, State Executive Council, and House Assembly to take proper legal action in accordance with the constitution. Maihanci emphasized the need for a balanced approach that aligns with both compassion and legal procedures.
