Taraba SEMA Activates Emergency Response to Fires

The Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has initiated an emergency response to address recent fire incidents in Jalingo, which were reportedly caused by electrical faults. Dr. Audu Echuseh, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, conducted assessments of multiple sites affected by the fires, including the Jeka Da Fari and Nana Aisha communities. These incidents resulted in significant financial losses and the displacement of families. During his visit, Dr. Echuseh assured victims that the state government, under Governor Agbu Kefa, would provide relief assistance to affected households to help them rebuild their lives. He highlighted the agency's commitment to strengthening disaster response management and emphasized the importance of proactive fire prevention measures, especially during the dry season. Additionally, Dr. Echuseh participated in a strategic meeting with heads of emergency management agencies in the northeast, focusing on improving disaster risk management and response capabilities in the region.
