Nigerian Tax Ombud Ensures Fair Tax Treatment Through New Guidelines

The Office of the Tax Ombud in Nigeria, led by Dr. John Nwabuez, is assuring Nigerians of fairer tax treatment through the implementation of guidelines aimed at safeguarding taxpayers' rights and strengthening trust.

A recent meeting in Abuja included key figures such as Mr. Taiwo Oyedele and Mr.

Olusegun Adesokan from the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform. The Tax Ombud's Chief Press Secretary, Chukwudi Achife, welcomed the delegation and highlighted the office's role in promoting fairness and transparency in Nigeria's tax system.

The office aims to improve the investment climate, enhance competitiveness, and bridge the gap between taxpayers and tax authorities. The Tax Ombud will launch public awareness campaigns to educate taxpayers on their rights and streamline the complaint process.

Collaboration with organizations like the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria will ensure proper information dissemination and clarification of tax laws.
