Ekiti State Introduces Tax Reform Exempting Low-Income Earners from 2026

Ekiti State's EKIRS Chairman, Olaniran Olatona, revealed that individuals earning below N800,000 annually will not have to pay personal income tax from January 1, 2026. The exemption covers salary workers, self-employed individuals, and those with combined business and rental income below the threshold.

Taxpayers earning above this threshold will enjoy full exemption in 2026, with the implementation for low-income earners starting in 2027. Olatona emphasized the state's commitment to engaging and informing sector operators to ensure compliance with the tax reform.
