Nigerian Tax Reform Committee Introduces 50 Exemptions for Low-Income Earners and SMEs

The Nigerian Tax Reform Committee, led by Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, has unveiled a package of 50 tax exemptions for low-income earners and small businesses, effective from January 1, 2026.

The reforms aim to reduce tax pressure on the poor, boost the productive sector of the economy, and enhance compliance with tax regulations. Oyedele emphasized the importance of accurate public awareness to combat misinformation about taxation.

Additionally, President Bola Tinubu introduced four bills related to tax and revenue administration in Nigeria.
