TCN Launches Kano-Katsina 330kV Power Project

The Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Sule Abdulaziz, announced the commencement of the Kano-Katsina 330kV transmission project during the Northern Nigeria Youth Stakeholders Conference organized by the Network for Good Governance and Transparency (NGGT) in Katsina. This project aims to bolster electricity transmission capacity and improve power supply in Katsina State and the broader North-West region.
Abdulaziz confirmed that essential equipment, including major power transformers, has been delivered to the project site for installation. Additionally, TCN is executing another transmission project linking Katsina with Malumfashi through Kurfi, Dutsin-ma, and Kankara, with substations being developed at these locations.
TCN has also secured land for a new substation in Mashi, pending land compensation payment. A major transformer at Kankia is set to be commissioned soon in the presence of Chief Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, the Minister of Power.
Abdulaziz expressed confidence that these projects will significantly enhance electricity transmission capacity and contribute to the improvement of the power sector in Nigeria.
