Nigerian Teachers Threaten Resignation Over Insecurity Concerns in Schools

Nigerian teachers, represented by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), are raising alarm over the escalating insecurity in schools across the country. Incidents of abductions, violence, and attacks on educational institutions have led to a sense of fear and danger among teachers and students, particularly in northern Nigeria.

The NUT President, Titu Amba, highlighted the vulnerability of schools as soft targets for criminal activities, citing recent cases of schoolgirls' abductions in Kebbi State, student kidnappings in Niger State, and attacks leading to school closures in Kwara State. Despite the risks, teachers are urged to continue their duties amid the ongoing security challenges.
