Tension grips PDP leaders as APC targets more govs

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing tension as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) targets more governors for defection. Reports suggest that another PDP governor from the Southern part of the country is planning to join the APC, following the recent defections of two influential governors to the ruling party.

Sources indicate that President Bola Tinubu is expected to receive the defecting governor upon his return from a foreign trip. The APC aims to secure a clear majority of states by attracting more PDP governors, potentially swelling their ranks to five or six.

The move is seen as a strategy to strengthen the APC's presence in the South and North Central geopolitical zones ahead of the 2027 elections. The PDP is reportedly under pressure as the APC intensifies efforts to secure more defections, with key governors like Peter Mbah of Enugu State and Douye Diri of Bayelsa State on the target list.
