Terrorist Groups Plan Attacks on Abuja Airport, Prisons

A report dated April 13 indicates that terrorist groups, including the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and factions of Boko Haram, are planning coordinated attacks on major targets in Abuja, specifically the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and the Kuje Correctional Facility. The memo, issued by the Nigerian Customs Service, highlights that these groups have already infiltrated the Federal Capital Territory, posing an imminent threat to public infrastructure and national security.

The document warns that the attacks aim to breach detention centers, disrupt aviation facilities, and create panic. In response, Customs spokesperson Abdullahi Maiwada confirmed the authenticity of the memo and noted that tighter security measures have been implemented, including increased patrols and stricter access controls.

The memo emphasizes the need for coordination among security agencies to prevent any breaches, reflecting the seriousness of the threat posed by these criminal elements.
