El-Rufai Accused of Poison Import to Distract from Corruption

Akin Osuntokun, who served as a political adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has accused former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai of trying to divert public attention from corruption allegations against him. This accusation follows reports that El-Rufai allegedly imported 10 kilograms of thallium sulphate, a highly toxic and strictly regulated substance in Nigeria.

Osuntokun criticized El-Rufai's remarks as irresponsible and reckless during an interview on Arise Television. He emphasized that such actions are an obvious attempt to distract from the establishment of a corruption case against El-Rufai.

Osuntokun further stated that the opposition is acting unseriously and is not prepared for the upcoming elections in less than a year, suggesting that El-Rufai's conduct is detrimental to his own political standing.
