Gunmen Kill 30 in Plateau State Palm Sunday Attack

On March 29, 2023, gunmen stormed Angwa Rukuba village in Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of 30 defenseless citizens and injuries to many others. In response to this unprovoked attack, the University of Jos postponed its scheduled exams.

Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Muftwang declared a 48-hour curfew in the state and strongly condemned the attack, assuring the public that necessary measures would be taken to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also condemned the killings, describing the attack as a cowardly act against innocent citizens.

He emphasized that such violence, similar to an attack in Kahir village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, is an affront to Nigeria. The president stated that no one should be able to hide and kill defenseless citizens under the cover of night.
