Deyemi Okanlawon Returns to Nollywood After 2019 Exit

Deyemi Okanlawon, a Nollywood actor, quit the industry in 2019, citing poor pay and a general sense that the work available did not meet the standards he had set. He decided to pursue a corporate career, taking a role as head of marketing at Silverbird Film Distributors.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he relocated and left the industry, but he received calls from several filmmakers, including Mo Abudu, Kemi Adetiba, Jade Osiberu, Funke Akindele, and Kunle Afolayan, which convinced him to return. His return to Nollywood was marked by a project that was held until 2021, and he subsequently took on a role in Funke Akindele's widely credited project, which helped re-establish his presence in the industry and opened doors for high-profile work, defining his career trajectory.
