Ukachukwu Critiques Fuel Marketers Over Price Hike

Ukachukwu, the Chief Executive Officer of Aviation Africa, has publicly criticized fuel marketers for alleged manipulations contributing to the ongoing fuel price hike in Nigeria's aviation sector. He emphasized that the current situation is exacerbated by the impact of the Iran war on local refinery operations, which has disrupted crude production.

In response to the soaring prices of Jet A1 fuel, the Airlines Operators of Nigeria (AON) announced a temporary suspension of operations. This decision was made to allow for dialogue aimed at resolving the crisis.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, issued a communiqué following an emergency meeting of the AON's Executive Council held on a Friday. AON plans to hold a meeting on April 22, 2026, to engage stakeholders in a constructive dialogue to find a mutually beneficial solution to the issues surrounding the significant rise in fuel prices.
