Sowore Condemns Judge's Order for Lawyer to Kneel

Omoyele Sowore, the president of the African Action Congress (AAC), expressed strong disapproval of a judge's order for his lawyer, Abubakar Marshal, to kneel during a cybercrime trial. Sowore described the directive as an "unknown to law" and a blatant disregard for legal practices.

The incident occurred during a court session where tensions rose as the judge repeatedly interrupted the lawyer's cross-examination of a witness from the Department of State Services (DSS). Sowore noted that the situation escalated when the judge warned that excessive cross-examination could harm the case.

After the lawyer insisted on completing his questioning, the judge ordered him to kneel as a form of sanction, which the lawyer firmly refused. Following this, the judge abruptly adjourned the case.

Sowore later addressed the media, stating that the current electoral system in Nigeria is flawed and that genuine democratic leadership cannot emerge without free and fair elections.
