Aiyedatiwa Responds to Court Ruling on Election Eligibility

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa responded to a Federal High Court ruling led by Justice Toyin Bolaji Adegoke, which upheld the constitutional limit of eight years for governors. The court agreed with the plaintiff, Kin Egbuwalo, a member of the APC, and issued an order restraining Aiyedatiwa from contesting in future elections.

Aiyedatiwa, alongside his deputy Olayid Adelami, discussed the ruling on Channels Television, stating that the focus should remain on governance and the implementation of policies and projects promised to voters. He noted that he recently won a fresh mandate in November 2024 and deemed the legal challenge unnecessary, as he intends to concentrate on the upcoming 2028 off-cycle governorship election without the distraction of the court judgment.
